Andy, an Iowa native, graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. He taught school for several years before starting his career in insurance in 1974. Andy was the manager of an insurance agency in Lincoln from 1976 until joining UNICO in 1985.

Andy is presently an agent in UNICO’s Family & Business Division. He has achieved his Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designations.

Andy and his wife Ann have two grown sons, John and Brian, and a daughter-in-law, Stephanie. In 2006, Andy became a grandpa, and he is enjoying that role very much.

In addition to spending time with his family, Andy enjoys traveling, sporting events, and fishing.

Carl moved to Lincoln in 2001 after living in Wisconsin his entire life. Carl is a Certified WorkComp Advisor and earned his CIC Designation in 2010.

Carl graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 1987 with a BS degree in Business Administration. He has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. He takes great pride in the service he provides to his clients and helping find solutions for their risk management issues. Carl joined the firm in 2005. Carl speaks all over Nebraska and the country on workers’ compensation and has been published in several trade publications.

Carl has a son Tanner and a daughter, Emma. They are members of St. Peter’s Church. He is very involved in the community and has served on numerous boards of directors and chaired several fundraising events. Carl enjoys watching his children participate in sports and has coached baseball. He is an avid Green Bay Packer fan and still finds time to cheer for the Huskers and golfing.

Chad is originally from Adams, Nebraska. Chad attended the University of Nebraska where he was a member of the Husker’s basketball team before leaving to get his degree at Nebraska Wesleyan. During his two years at Wesleyan he earned All-American and All-Conference honors while helping the Plainsmen reach the Div III finals for the first time in school history.

Chad started his own insurance agency in 2001 and joined UNICO in May 2004. He takes pride in taking care of his clients and building strong relationships with them. Chad is an active member in Lincoln’s Young Professional Group.

Recognizing education is an important part of his career, Chad earned his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation. He is excited to bring his past experience and education to the UNICO team.

Chad and his wife Sarah have two children, Brady and Brooklyn. Chad enjoys spending time with his family and when time permits playing basketball, golf, hunting and fishing.

Cynthia is originally from Elmwood, Nebraska.  She began her insurance career in 1988 with an insurance company prior to joining UNICO in 1995.

Cynthia feels that it is important to keep current with the industry and continuing her insurance education is a precedence for her. Quality customer service is a priority to Cynthia and she enjoys establishing a good working relationship with her clients.

Cynthia and her husband Scott live in Geneva and they have two daughters, Lacey and Haley. In her spare she enjoys working out and spending time with family and friends.

Diana began her insurance career with St. Paul Companies in the fidelity surety industry, earning the title of Field Specialist in the Financial and Professional Services Division. She was with St. Paul in Omaha, Nebraska for 26 years before joining UNICO in January 2000.

Diana specializes in Financial Institutions and has expertise in Directors and Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Crime Bond Coverage, Internet Liability and Property Insurance for banks. She is very actively involved with the State Independent Community Bankers Associations in Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri. Diana travels a tri-state area visiting bankers and assisting them with all their insurance needs.

Diana is a member of Financial Women International. She is involved with community activities such as Special Olympics and Race for the Cure.

Diana has a virtual office located in the Kansas City area. She and her husband Bill enjoy golf, photography, and travel. They also enjoy spending time visiting Diana’s son, Chad and his family in Denver.

Duana is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Kearney with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resource Management. She has over 3 years of work experience in Human Resources for both manufacturing and retail environments. Part of her duties involved managing the return-to-work programs, case management of workers’ compensation and safety programs.

As our Claims Advocate, Duana will review and negotiate open claim reserves to make sure that WC claims are not over reserved causing unnecessary increases in premiums.

Ed is a native of Kansas City and a graduate of the University of Iowa.

Ed began his insurance career with the Travelers Insurance Group in Omaha, NE and was their Regional Office Automobile Bodily Injury Claims Specialist. He was a District Manager for Kemper Ins. Group for nine years and worked seven years for a National Broker in Lincoln.

He has committed himself to professionalism in insurance as is evidenced by his completion of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU); Casualty Claim Law Associate; Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC).

Ed believes that it is important to give back to the community. Ed has been actively involved with the Goodwill Industries, Star City Parade, Sowers Club Foundation, Sowers Club of Lincoln, Inc., Updowntowners, Gateway Sertoma, Lincoln Downtown Athletic Club and the Masonic Lodge. Ed is a past graduate of Leadership Lincoln.

Gayla Martin is an Account Executive in our Family and Business Division at UNICO since August of 2008. Gayla works on producing her own book of business while also placing and servicing Commercial accounts for our brokerage program. Customer Service is very important to Gayla!  Before joining UNICO, Gayla was a Commercial Underwriter for Allied Insurance where she underwrote for the New Nationwide Agents of California, providing training of products as well as basic insurance knowledge. Her last position with Allied was as a Remarketing department underwriter working on agency book rolls. She is putting this experience to great use with our Brokers.  Prior to Allied, she was an office manager and producer for an exclusive agency in Lincoln.  Gayla also spent 10 years in the non-profit arena in recruiting, programming development and product sales.  In her free time she is a member of Insurance Women of Lincoln, Lincoln High Booster Club, and a fan of UNL Athletics.  Gayla grew up in Iowa and received her business degree from College of Saint Mary in Omaha.  Gayla and her husband, Don have been married 19 years and live in Martell with their children Katie, 18 and Daniel, 15.  As a family they enjoy boating, biking, fishing, hunting, traveling and sports.

Gina started in the insurance business in 1979 in the pension department of a local insurance company before moving into the group department, where she became familiar with all aspects of group products. She later joined an agency where customer service of group products was her main focus.

Gina’s focus at UNICO is to provide our clients and policyholders with the support they need, and to provide the reliable, quality service which has been the mainstay of UNICO’s philosophy.

During her spare time, Gina likes to relax with her husband Clay, and three boys, Adam, Lucas and Tyler. She enjoys reading, movies and listening to music.

Scott, UNICO’s President, is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Kearney and has been in the insurance industry since 1971.

As one of UNICO’s original principals, Scott enjoys the many friends he has made serving the Lincoln Community and his customers over the last 35 years.

Scott takes great pride in the UNICO Team, and in making UNICO a professional but FUN place to work.

Favorite pastimes include golf, exercising, reading and spending quality time with family and friends.

Jan began her insurance career in 1996 working for a local insurance agency in
Columbus, NE.  She started as a receptionist and was moved to the accounting department that same year.  In 2000 she joined UNICO Group and began working as an Account Manager in the Commercial Lines department.  She has earned her Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) and Certified Professional Service Representative (CPSR) designations.  She is continually attending classes and working towards new designations.  She enjoys serving her customers and looks forward to the challenges and opportunities presented to her.

In her spare time she enjoys traveling, music, remodeling projects, shopping and spending time with family and friends.  Jan and her husband Bob live in Lincoln and they have two grown children.

Kipp is a native of Fairfield, Nebraska. He graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1998 with a BS degree in Exercise Science and finished his graduate work in 2000 with a MS in the same field of study.

Kipp comes to UNICO with five years of sales experience in the pharmaceutical industry. He was based in Lincoln calling on family physicians, cardiologists and gastroenterologists.

Kipp enjoys Husker football, golfing, fishing and basketball. He and his wife Jenny are the proud parents of three young boys, Rece, Brooks and Cal. They enjoy spending time with their family and friends and are also active members of American Lutheran Church in Ashland.

Linda is a Hebron, Nebraska native and graduated from Doane College in 1982 with a B.A. in Business Administration. After college, she worked four years in a Human Resources consulting firm. She joined UNICO Financial Services in 1986 to pursue her interest in employee benefits. She completed her Certified Employee Benefits Specialist Designation (CEBS) in 2000.

In her role as a Service Account Executive, Linda enjoys the process of working directly with clients to navigate the challenge of maintaining affordable benefit plans in an ever-changing environment and to help clients stay abreast of changes in the marketplace. Educating employers and employees about benefit choices helps both to receive the most for their benefit dollar.

As a Service Account Executive, Linda is a “hands-on” service professional who is available to provide a full range of services to clients and employees throughout the year. She is a natural extension of our employee benefit philosophy to form a strong alliance with our clients for long-term relationships.

Linda is active in the Lincoln Association of Health Underwriters and in her church, Christ Lutheran. Linda and her husband, Bruce, have two children, Drew and Shelby.

Marci is from Lincoln and attended Southeast Community College.  Marci began her insurance career with a national insurance broker in Lincoln. She transferred to their Houston office where she held the positions of Account Assistant and Account Manager.  She was a member of the National Association
of Insurance Women.

Marci returned to Lincoln ten years later and joined the UNICO Team. She has a wealth of commercial insurance industry experience.  Her professional approach and problem-solving skills are an asset to our clients.

Marci obtained her Certified Professional Insurance Women (CPIW) Designation in 1985 and her Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) Designation in 2003.  She has completed half of the requirements for the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) Designation.

Marci enjoys reading and spending time with her family and friends.

Mary began her insurance career as a receptionist and bookkeeper.  She obtained her property/casualty license in 1990 and became an Account Manager in personal and commercial lines.  In 1996 she worked with a local agency as the Account Manger of Commercial Lines.  Mary achieved her Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation in 1990 and her Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) designation in 2000.

Mary joined the UNICO team in November 2000 as an Account Manager and Bonding Representative.  She enjoys working with her clients and the diversity of her responsibilities.

Mary’s favorite times are spent with her husband Russ, their daughter and son-in-law, her two sons, daughter-in-laws and the grandchildren.  She also enjoys being a member of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority, reading and walking.

Mike is originally from Arnold, NE. He graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1998 with a BS degree in Business Administration. Mike began his professional career in the financial services industry working primarily for Oppenheimer Funds, Inc. and Goldman Sachs & Co. In 2005, his position with Goldman Sachs & Co. brought him back to Omaha, NE where he and his family now reside. He looks forward to bringing his past experience to the UNICO team.

Mike and his wife, Laura, have two children, a daughter, Natalie and son, Balin. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends and in his spare time, enjoys road biking, hunting, golf and watching collegiate sports.

Mick is a native of Butte, Nebraska where his family is engaged in farming and raising cattle. He graduated from the University of Nebraska Lincoln with a BS degree in Ag Economics.

Mick comes to UNICO with a career that has included being a business owner/CEO for more than 18 years managing financial, HR/benefits plans and operational issues. He has additional experience in strategic planning, marketing strategy and business development for agri-business, business/financial services and manufacturing companies.

He holds an insurance license for life, health, disability, Medicare supplement and long term care insurance while working on both group and individual plans. He is a member of the National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors.

Mick currently serves on the board of directors for the Junior Achievement of Lincoln and the Nebraska 4H Foundation. Mick and his wife Sue have two grown daughters who live in Omaha and London, England. They enjoy spending time with their family and friends and are active members of St. Joseph’s church in Lincoln.

Mike, a central Nebraska native, graduated from Concordia College in Seward, Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. After five years of teaching and coaching in Phoenix, Arizona, Mike began his career in the insurance field as a career agent with MassMutual Life Insurance Company in Lincoln, Nebraska.

In 1996, Mike transitioned to be an Independent Agent. He joined UNICO Financial Advisors in 2001 as a life insurance and investment specialist. He is a qualifying member of the Million-Dollar Round Table.

Mike was a member of the Nebraska and Arizona National Guard from 1981 to 1987 and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sargent. He is involved in the TEAMMATES program as a mentor and as a prayer partner at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.

Mike and his wife, Robyn, have three children, Blake, Seth and Lauren. They are all involved members at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Mike enjoys coaching youth sports, attending his children’s actvities and playing golf.

Molly is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management and Organizational Communications. She has 18 years of experience in sales, management and finance as well as marketing.

Molly is a Nebraska life and health agent who joined UNICO in 2008.

Molly and her husband John have three children, Emma, Alex and Jack and are members of St. Peter’s Church in Lincoln.

Nadine, a native of Lincoln and attended the University of Nebraska where she majored in Business Administration.

Nadine began her insurance career working in a corporate risk management department for thirteen years.

Prior to joining UNICO, Nadine worked for a national insurance broker for eight years, holding the positions of Commercial Account Representative and Account Manager.

Nadine has an extensive background in insurance and risk management, specifically, in the areas of public entity, healthcare, lawyer’s professional and financial institutions.

Working as an Account Manager, Nadine’s principal focus is on providing excellent customer service and building and maintaining strong client relationships.

She enjoys gardening, reading and doing craft projects.

Paul is a native of Norfolk, Nebraska. He graduated from University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2004 with a  Bachelors in Business Administration.

Paul spent 7 years in Kansas City first working for Captial City Bank (now PNC) in their residential lending division. Paul was responsible for business development, marketing and training brokers on products. He later worked at a publicly traded recruting and consulting firm known as Kforce where he was responsible for managing client relationships and business development.

Paul currently lives in Omaha where he is actively involved in Sacred Heart Parish. Paul enjoys being around his family and friends and follows Husker football and Royals baseball very closely. In his spare time Paul enjoys playing golf and traveling. Paul joined the UNICO team in 2011.

Ric spent most of his youth in Lincoln, and after graduating from Sutton, NE he returned to the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and completed his B.A. in 1993.

Ric began his insurance career in 1994 with a large national insurance company. He later moved to Norfolk where he emphasized professionalism and education while obtaining both his CPCU (Chartered Property and Casualty Underwritiers) and AIC (Associate in Claims) designations. He recently added his CWCA (Certified Work Comp Advisor) designation.

Ric believes in giving back to the community, and has demonstrated this through his involvement as a TeamMates mentor, Junior Achievement Instructor, United Way fundraiser, and his work with the Red Cross. Ric is currently a member of Lincoln’s Rotary Club #14.

Ric’s Christian faith is extremely important to him. He has served on Pastor Nominating Committee’s as Chairman of the Youth Committe, taught Sunday school, and is currently an Elder and leads the Small Group Ministry at Hope Community Church.

Ric enjoys Husker football, playing basketball, traveling and time with his wife Ranae, and daughters Aleni, and Adisen.

Bob, a western Nebraska native, graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1977 with a BS degree in Business Administration. He joined USF&G as a Bond Underwriter until 1980, when he was named Bond Superintendent of the Omaha branch office of USF&G. Bob joined the agency ranks in 1983 as Bond Manager for a National Broker in Omaha. He joined UNICO as a partner in 1984.

With nearly 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, Bob specializes in Financial Institutions, Health Care and Construction with an emphasis on tailoring and modifying coverage’s to the specific needs of his clients. He promotes proactive risk management to his clients and helps them explore alternatives to conventional insurance products.

Bob has served on numerous boards of directors and remains an active participant in several associations.

Sandra is originally from north central Nebraska and has spent most of her life in Nebraska. She received her BS degree in Business Administration from Doane/Lincoln and joined the agency in 1986.

Sandra believes that with everyone working together as a team, we can meet our client’s needs and desires. Our ongoing goal is to provide our customers quality service, professionalism and excellence.

Shane is a native of Filley, NE. He graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2003 with a BA degree in Business Administration.

Shane began his insurance career in 2003 with a national workers’ compensation carrier working in various sales and marketing roles. He later worked as a marketing representative for Philadelphia Insurance, a niche property and casualty insurer. He joined the UNICO team in August of 2009.

Shane and his wife, Rachel, currently live in Omaha, NE and are members of Rejoice Lutheran Church. Shane enjoys attending sporting events, playing golf and basketball, and spending time with family and friends.

Sherry began her insurance career with UNICO in January of 1998 and  received her Property & Casualty License in April 2001.  In September of 2002 she was promoted to account manager in the large commercial dept. Sherry enjoys the insurance industry and the challenges and opportunities it presents. Customer service is a top priority to Sherry and she enjoys the relationships she forms with her clients.

Sherry graduated from Doane College in May of 2002 with a Bachelors Degree in Human Relations. Since joining UNICO, she has received the designations of Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) & Certified Workers Compensation Specialist (CWCS) and  is currently working towards the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.

In her spare time Sherry enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Her hobbies include photography, gardening and hiking.

Steve was born in Kansas City, Missouri, raised in Hebron and graduated from Odell, Nebraska. He received his BSED and MSED degrees from Northwest Missouri State University in 1993.

Steve began his insurance career with a large national insurance company in property claims, he then moved to agribusiness underwriting, and has now joined UNICO in January 2010. He has earned the Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Specialist (AFIS) designation.

Steve and his wife, Nancy have two sons: Zachary and Andrew. Steve enjoys spending time with his family, sports and officiating football, which he has done since 1987.

Tami is a native of the Sioux Falls, South Dakota area. She attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. Tami began her insurance career in 1990 with a company in Sioux Falls. She moved to Lincoln in 1992 and opened her own agency. In February of 1996, Tami joined UNICO Group, Inc.

Tami has earned her Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation and is a member of American Business Women’s Association (AWBA). She has focused her career on building relationships with her clients and the companies UNICO represents.

Tami and her husband Jeff have two children, Cory & Drew. In her spare time Tami enjoys cooking, shopping and traveling.

Tom was born in Lincoln but raised in Sargent, NE. He graduated from Hastings College in 1992 with a BA in Human Resource Management and was a track and field All-American.

Tom began his insurance career with a regional insurance company in 1994 where he was a Multi-line Claims Representative. He continued his career with a national companty where he spent five years and most recently held a position as Claims Manager.

Tom is dedicated to education and has received an Associate in Claims (AIC) as well as his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation. Tom combines his educational background and extensive claims handling experience to offer a unique blend of product knowledge and practical application when a client is most in need. He also prides himself in contract review and compliance as it related to insurance and risk management. Tom views himself as a risk manager and problem solver above anything else. Tom speaks all over Nebraska and the country on workers’ compensation and has been published in several trade publications.

Tom and his wife Christy have two daughters and are members of Westminster Presbyterian Church. In his spare time Tom enjoys fishing, hunting and softball.

Tom is originally from Raymond, Nebraska. He attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA where he earned his degree in Business. While attending Pacific, Tom was a four year starter on the basketball team. His senior season, Tom helped lead his team to a Big West Championship and to the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Upon graduating, Tom went to work for United Rentals Trench Safety. While working for United Rentals he became a Certified Competent Person Trainer, as well as a Certified Confined Space Trainer. Training many of the local contractors on the OSHA standard has allowed Tom to gain a greater understanding of the day-to-day hazards of today’s jobsites. Tom is excited to bring his past experience and training to the UNICO team.

Tom and his wife Sarah currently live in Omaha, NE and enjoy attending Husker football and basketball games. Tom also enjoys playing golf, hunting, and fishing.

Britni is a native of the Ogalalla, Nebraska area. She began her insurance career in 2004 with  Greco Insurance Agency of Papillion.  In 2008 UNICO and Greco Insurance Agency merged and moved their office to 802 Tara Plz Ste 106 in Papillion, Nebraska.

Britni has earned her  Certified Insruance Service Representative (CISR) designation and is a member of Metro Omaha Womens Business Center (MOWBC), LaVista Chamber, Council Bluffs Saddle Club, SISCO, Mills County Saddle Club, and NEAFQHR. She has focused her career on building relationships with small business owners working together on providing the proper coverage for this line of work.

Britni and her husband Todd live in Glenwood IA and enjoy spending their free time with their dogs and horses on trail rides and camping trips.

Linda graduated from Colorado State University with Honors. She is married and has three wonderful children. Linda has lived in Colorado, Arkansas, Wyoming and now makes Nebraska her home. She worked 7 years with USAA as a Service Representative and a Property Claims Adjuster. She also spent time as a Representative with Farmers Insurance Group. UNICO is proud to welcome her to our team in 2011.

Her passion is to meet people and build relationships. She really likes to learn how business owners started their business and what it takes to be successful. Linda is looking foward to the opportunity to get to know you and review your insurance needs.

Tom has earned his CPCU and CIC designations in the property casualty industry. He has over 20 years of service as an agent.

Chris grew up in Northeast Kansas. He attended Baker University in Baldwin, Kansas and graduated in 1992.

Chris began his career as an Assistant Cashier at a bank in his home town. In 1996, he transitioned into the insurance industry with the Cincinnati Insurance Company as a Claims Representative. Chris achieved his Associate in Claims (AIC) designation and was promoted to Claims Manager in Kansas, where he worked for four years.

In 2006 Chris joined the UNICO team as an Account Executive in the Kearney office. Drawing on his claims background, Chris assists his clients in evaluating their risk to provide them with the appropriate products and service.

Bob is a graduate of the University of South Dakota and has been in the insurance business since 1974. He received his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation in 1985 and his Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation in 1990. For the past 19 years, Bob has been with an independent insurance agency in Columbus. He joined UNICO in their new Columbus office in September of 1998.

Bob has been a board member of the Columbus Family YMCA since 1981 and was Past Exalted Ruler and Trustee of Columbus Lodge #1195 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He has also been a United Way volunteer for the past 16 years.

Bob and his wife Jean have two daughters and one son and are members of St. Isidore’s Catholic Church in Columbus. In his spare time Bob enjoys playing golf and working out at the YMCA.
