Cybersecurity Insurance: What small businesses need to know

If you think that you are immune from cyber attacks, then think again, as this article from J.D. Harrison explains in:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/on-small-business/post/cybersecurity-insurance-what-small-businesses-need-to-know/2011/12/28/gIQAYlL5MP_blog.html

Harrison explains in this short read that if you have employees or customers, chances are you have an exposre to cyber liability.  He also goes on to mention that most general liability packages do not have a cyber component. You need to take the steps to protect your company’s private data, and even more importantly, to understand your company’s vulnerabilities, use anti-virus software, and document your efforts. He also does a nice job of explaining the difference between first and third party claims.

A must read for every small business whether currently carrying a cyber policy or just evaluating current exposures. Please feel free to contact us at rmoritzky@unicogroup.com with any questions regarding this exposure or another.
