Changes to be Aware Of:

Extended Comment Period: OSHA has extended the deadline for submitting comments on the proposed rule. Stakeholders now have until January 14, 2025, to provide their input. This 15-day extension aims to give interested parties more time to review the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) and gather necessary information for their comments.

Upcoming Public Hearing: Additionally, OSHA has scheduled an informal public hearing on the proposed rule. The hearing will begin on June 16, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. and will be held virtually. If needed, the hearing may continue on subsequent weekdays. More information on how to access the hearing can be found here.

Hearing Participation: Those wishing to testify or question witnesses at the hearing must submit an electronic Notice of Intention (NOITA) by May 2, 2025. Anyone requesting more than 10 minutes for their presentation or intending to submit documentary evidence must provide their full testimony, as well as a copy of any documentary evidence by May 23, 2025.

Submitting Comments: Comments on the proposed rule can be submitted electronically through the Federal e-Rulemaking Portal.

Why this Rule Matters:

Heat-related illnesses and injuries pose a significant risk to workers in both outdoor and indoor settings. As environmental changes continue to impact working conditions, it’s crucial for employers and employees to stay informed about evolving safety standards and regulations.

What You Can Do:
